All Star Charity Gala 2012

The DeBartolo Family Foundation’s Eighth All Star Charity Gala presented by Bright House Networks hosted 500 guests who mingled with more than 30 celebrities, including Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon, former San Francisco 49ers Jerry Rice, Charles Haley and Randy Crossformer University of Florida star Tim Tebow, astrologer Terry Nazon and Grammy-nominated Taylor Dayne.  The “Medieval Masquerade” themed event at the A La Carte Pavilion on March 9th brought in more than $500,000 to benefit the Foundation, which supports some of the Tampa Bay area’s most worthy causes.

Designed by Lisa DeBartolo, Nikki DeBartolo and Tiffani Packer, the Gala was a celebration of Medieval Times that only the most noble would attend. Guests entered the A La Carte Event Pavilion through castle-like doors beneath a four foot stone carved Gargoyle.  Beverages were served from a grand circular bar made entirely of ice.  Guests enjoyed an abundant four course meal seated amongst large feasting tables with throne- style seating at each end.  Centerpieces encompassed fresh fruits, savory cheeses, shelled walnuts and artisanal bread sticks, which guests enjoyed with metal skewers as their first course.  Silhouette shadow dancers created a performance showcasing a story of courageous chivalry amongst knights seeking courtship.  Medieval banners displaying a custom created DeBartolo Family Foundation Coat of Arms hung around the regal plum draped ballroom in between metal fire burning torches.  Massive double tiered iron chandeliers with dancing candlelight were suspended overhead.

Master of Ceremonies Dick Crippen led the live auction – auctioning off not one, but two trips to the DeBartolo family’s Fourth of July event in Kalispell, MT – and raising over $90,000 for the Foundation’s programs.   The evening concluded with a performance by the Midtown Men, the original cast of Jersey Boys.
